Eating Diary

Doing an Eating Diary and sharing it with your health care practitioner is a good way to get support with reviewing your eating patterns. Write down each food item and amount that you eat and drink for five days. Bring this to your next visit with your health care practitioner or make a special appointment to share your concerns and to review the diary that you've made.

Some points to remember when you do your diary:

  • Write everything you eat and drink during the 24 hour day.
  • Remember to include approximate amount of mayonnaise, type of salad dressing, ketchup, sugar and milk in your coffee…everything.
  • Activity means to describe the environment. Is it a meal? Who is with you or are you alone? What activity are you engaged in? How are you feeling?
